South African Test star Allan Donald took 8-47 and then hit an unbeaten 31 to lead title chasing Rishton to a 5 wicket win over Accrington at Blackburn Road. Donald sent back openers Steve Birtwistle (1) and Mark Stevenson (4) to have the visitors reeling at 10-2. Professional Chad Grainger (16) and Tofeeq Khan (7) put on 19 before both falling to Donald who also picked up Stefan Heins (4) and Justin Greenwood (4). John Seedle cleaned up Martin Whittle (4) and Robbie Walsh removed Russell Edmonds (7) to have Accrington in dire straits at 59-8. Scott Greaves (a career best 32 against his former club) and Tariq Hussain (16) put on 51 for the 9th wicket before both men fell to Donald leaving Len Dewhurst unbeaten when the innings ended on 111 in the 35th over. Grainger sent back opener Neil Wells (0) and Craig Smith (16) with Khan picking up skipper John Wharton (14), Andy Bartley (6) and Russ Whalley (21) but Stuart Roberts (8 not out) and Donald took Rishton to a vital win in the 30th over.
