South African Test star Allan Donald followed up his 8-47 two weeks previously with another match winning spell, this time taking 7-3 to bowl bottom club Accrington out for just 18 to give league leaders Rishton a 177 run win at Thorneyholme Road. Seven batsmen failed to score with skipper Paul Barratt top scoring with 5 as the home side were bowled out in 14 overs, John Seedle chipping in with 3-6, picking up opener Mark Stevenson (0), Russell Edmonds (0) and Azad Akram (1). Eight wickets fell for the addition of just 2 runs with Donald removing opener Steve Birtwistle (1), professional Chad Grainger (2), Barratt, Tofeeq Khan (0), Stefan Heins (0), Tariq Hussain (0) and Scott Greaves (0) in a devastating spell. After skipper John Wharton (5) had fallen to Greaves, Stuart Roberts (36), Seedle (36 not out), Andy Bartley (33), Russ Whalley (30), Craig Smith (21) and Donald (20) all chipped in to Rishton's 195-6 with Grainger picking up 3-62 in Accrington's fifth successive defeat.
