A 49 run win at Rawtenstall saw Accrington claim a second successive victory in the battle of the bottom two clubs. Skipper Paul Barratt hit 56 in Accrington's 154 all out and then professional Chad Grainger took a league best 6-47 and Len Dewhurst picked up 3-28 to help bowl bottom club Rawtenstall out for 105. After losing Tofeeq Khan (0) to home professional Guy Whittall (4-70) at 1, opener Mark Stevenson and Grainger took the score to 15 before the amateur was caught by Rawtenstall skipper Steve Tattersall off Whittall after scoring all of the runs. Grainger and Barratt put on 58 before Grainger fell to his opposite number for 39, which included his 500th league run of the season. Martin Whittle (9) was bowled by Richard Glover at 100. Stefan Heins (3) and Wayne Roberts (0) were run out at 113 and 117 with Glover accounting for Tariq Hussain (10) at 133. Whittall trapped Scott Greaves (1) in front at 138 and Barratt was run out at 151 after hitting eight fours in his 119 ball knock. Mick Wilson (3) was last out falling to Glover at 154 leaving Dewhurst unbeaten on 1. Rawtenstall replied with Richard Wood and his uncle Peter putting on 20 for the 1st wicket. Grainger split the pair having Richard caught by Barratt and then sending back Whittall (5) at 26. Greaves trapped Tattersall (2) in front at 33 with Pewter Wood being caught behind by Wilson off Dewhurst for 20 at 59. Grainger cleaned up Matt Wilson (9) at 72 and then had Afrus Ali (3) caught by Roberts at 79. Glenn Barlow top scored with 34 before holing out to Barratt off Dewhurst at 100. Four runs later Grainger had Tony Greenwood (10) caught by Heins. Peter Barnes (0) fell to Grainger without addition at the same score and Dewhurst polished off the innings by trapping Andy Cormack in front without scoring at 105.
