Bottom club Accrington lost to Nelson for the second weekend running this time by 92 runs at Thorneyholme Road. After openers Phillip Pickles (19) and Duncan Spencer (14) had put on 38, professional Joe Scuderi (75) and Paul Garaghty (50) put on another century stand following last weeks 169, adding 127 for the 3rd wicket before both fell to Tariq Hussain (2-40). Accrington used six bowlers in Nelson's 207-6. Martin Heap (3-13) and Jason Smith (3-29) then picked up 3 wickets apiece to help bowl Accrington out for 115 with injured skipper Brian Holmes unable to bat. Opener Mark Stevenson hit 25 but Accrington struggled to 53-7 before late resistance from Tofeeq Khan ('32), Hussain (13) and Scott Greaves (21 not out) took the home side to 115 all out.
