Top of the table Lowerhouse secured a fourth successive maximum points win of the season with a huge 141 run win at Liverpool Road over bottom club Accrington who lost for the fourth time in as many matches. Professional Shawn Flegler hit a Lowerhouse post-war record unbeaten 159, including eleven fours and seven sixes, in his sides 237-6. Scott Greaves picked up Ted Whittle (2) at 6 and Nick Hope (10) at 39. Chris Bleazard (17) joined Flegler to add 44 before being trapped in front by Len Dewhurst. Stan Heaton (5) fell to Accrington professional Chad Grainger at 114 with Greaves (3-93) having Frank Entwistle (4) caught behind by Russell Edmonds at 138. Skipper Gary Moorhouse (11) was bowled by Dewhurst at 159 but Jez Hope (14 not out) joined Flegler to add an unbroken 78 for the 7th wicket. Accrington openers Mark Stevenson and Paul Barratt (17) put on 31 before Barratt was trapped in front by Jez Hope. Grainger fell to Paul Stansfield at 34 without scoring and Stevenson was run out for 15 at the same score. Edmonds and Steve Birtwistle put on 31 before Birtwistle was run out for 10. Two runs later Edmonds was caught behind by Brian Higgin off Matt Hope for 19. When skipper Brian Holmes (3) fell to Matt Hope and Wayne Roberts (1) fell to Flegler at 70, 4 wickets had fallen for the addition of just 5 runs. Flegler (4-8) removed Azad Akram (0) and Greaves (0) in successive balls at 84 and he then had Tofeeq Khan (20) stumped by Higgin to end the innings on 96, leaving Dewhurst unbeaten on 1.
