Colne v Accrington
Eighteen year-old Russell Edmonds hit his maiden Lancashire League century but an unbroken opening stand of 188 took Colne to a 10 wicket win over Accrington at The Horsfield. Edmonds hit fifteen fours and a six in making 101 before being ninth out to Colne professional Ben Johnson at 182. Nick Moulding sent back skipper Mark Stevenson (14) at 28 and Jeff Ellis removed professional Chad Grainger (16) at 76. Kevin Cullen had Steve Birtwistle (17) caught behind by Andy Leah at 122 and two runs later Ellis had Tofeeq Khan caught by Johnson without scoring. Stefan Heins (0) was run out at 127 with Ellis removing Wayne Roberts (1) at 151, Sajed Sadiq (11) at 152 and Azad Akram (14) at 184 to finish with a career best 5-57 from 14.4 overs. Scott Greaves was also run out for 1, leaving Len Dewhurst unbeaten on 0. The record breaking Johnson hit twenty-two fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 129 with Darryl Halstead making an unbeaten 50, including four fours as Colne knocked off the runs inside 21 overs to set a new club record stand for the 1st wicket.
