Bottom club Accrington ended the season with a much needed 5 wicket win at Burnley. Openers Mark Harvey (32) and skipper Peter Brown put on 56 before Harvey fell to Azad Akram. Two runs later Akram struck again by removing professional Rudra Singh (2). Professional Chad Grainger trapped Brown in front for 32 at 99 and then had Andy McLeod (20) caught by skipper Paul Barratt at 125. Ian Whitehead (3) was run out at 136 and one run later Grainger has Khizar Saeed caught behind by Russell Edmonds without scoring. Len Dewhurst removed Ben Law for a career best 46 at 155 with Grainger (4-48) picking up his 4th wicket by having Steve Whittaker (3) caught by Steve Birtwistle at 160. Five runs later Chris Wright was stumped by Edmonds off Dewhurst with David Connolly (4 not out) and Kamran Farooq (1 not out) unbeaten when the innings ended on 167-9. Promoted to open the innings, Dewhurst was bowled by Farooq without scoring at 7. Mark Stevenson ((37) and Edmonds (33) put on 65 for the 2nd wicket when Edmonds was run out. Connolly had Stevenson caught by Saeed one run later but Grainger and Barratt put on 37 before the South African was caught by Whitehead off Connolly (3-44) for 35. Birtwistle (9) was trapped in front by Connolly at 138 but Khan (9 not out) joined his captain Barratt (38 not out) to see Accrington to a fifth win of the season with just eight balls remaining.
