David Ormerod took 5-41 and professional Roger Harper picked up 4-21 to help Bacup to a third win of the season against bottom club Accrington. Just seven days after a 3 wicket win in the Worsley Cup, Bacup strolled to a 9 wicket win in the 19th over after bowling Accrington out for 86 in 41 overs at Lanehead. Openers Mark Stevenson (23) and Tofeeq Khan (12) put on 32 before Stevenson was caught by Mark Taylor off Ormerod. Professional Chad Grainger (9) was stumped by John Chapman off Ormerod at 45 and two runs later Khan chipped a return catch to Harper. Wayne Roberts (15) was caught by Terry Lord off Ormerod at 62 and Tariq Hussain (4) was bowled by Harper at 70. Ormerod cleaned up Martin Whittle (6) at 72 with skipper Brian Holmes (0) and Mick Wilson (1) falling to Harper at 78. Azad Akram (2) was run out at 82 and last man Len Dewhurst (2) was trapped in front by Ormerod to end the innings on 85 leaving Scott Greaves unbeaten on 2. Dewhurst picked up Taylor (38) at 68 but Peter Killelea (33 not out) and Harper (7 not out) saw Bacup safely home in the 19th over.
