East Lancs had a 77 run win at Accrington. Openers David Adams (73) and skipper Brian Ratcliffe (30) put on 96 in East Lancs total of 174-6 which was far and away the highest score of the day. Jim Kenyon (4-35) and Ian Houston (3-6) then sliced through an inexperienced Accrington line up after professional Neil Hawke had removed his opposite number Alan Seiler for 22. Ian Birtwistle top scored with an unbeaten 24 for the home side who included future Test star Graeme Fowler in their line up. Fowler made just 2 before falling to Kenyon.
